Ralph and Vanellope venture into the Internet in the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph

One of the showstoppers during Disney’s Pixar and Disney Animation presentation at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California this past weekend was the first look at Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. The follow-up to the 2012 homage to arcade games finds Ralph (voiced by John C Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) escaping the arcade and entering the wild world of the Internet in order to find a way to fix Vanellope’s game.

Silverman was on hand to talk about the film, along with directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, and the audience saw the premiere of a madcap scene in which Vanellope finds her way to a backstage area of a Disney website, where she encounters the Disney Princesses and becomes fast friends with all of them, as we learn a few things about each that we didn’t know before.

Capping the genuinely hilarious scene (a nice bit of self-satire if there ever was one), the actors who originally voiced nine of the princesses and reprise their roles in this film – Auli‘i Cravalho (Moana), Kristen Bell (Anna in Frozen), Kelly MacDonald (Merida in Brave), Mandy Moore (Rapunzel in Tangled), Anika Noni Rose (Tiana in The Princess And The Frog), Irene Bedard (Pocahontas), Linda Larkin (Jasmine in Aladdin), Paige O’Hara (Belle in Beauty And The Beast) and Jodi Benson (Ariel in The Little Mermaid) – gathered onstage for a massive Disney Princesses moment.

It was one of those “bring the house down” surprises that studios love to roll out at events like these, and it instantly put Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 up the must-see list. The film also introduces a new character, a trend-following algorithm named Yesss, who will be voiced by Taraji P Henson (Empire).

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits cinemas on November 21st 2018.
