We have to be a little bit careful how we talk about M Night Shyamalan’s Glass, since its story hinges on some of the writer-director’s other hit films. All we can say is, if you don’t want to know anything about the forthcoming thriller, look away now.
Still here? Good. If so, you’ll probably be aware that Glass is not only the sequel to Shyamalan’s Split, which starred James McAvoy, but also a follow-up to his earlier hit, Unbreakable. As such, the film will star Samuel L Jackson and Bruce Willis – stars of Unbreakable – as well as Split’s McAvoty and Anya Taylor-Joy.
If the prospect of a belated Unbreakable sequel seems too good to be true, rest assured that the film’s now officially in front of the cameras, as Shyamalan and producer Jason Blum have announced the official start of production.
Variety also reports that Disney is joining forces with Universal to serve as the film’s distributor; although the budget will be low by blockbuster standards, this will likely make Glass the highest-profile film to come out of Blumhouse Production’s stable so far.
According to August’s synopsis, Glass will see Bruce Willis’s ‘unbreakable’ David Dunn return to track down James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb and his scary alter-ego, the Beast. Samuel L Jackson’s villainous Elijah Price will also have something to do with both characters’ fate.
Glass isn’t out until early 2019, so we’ll bring you lots more as we get it.
