An upcoming special edition of Street Fighter5 features several long-awaited additions…

Following an earlier leak regarding the release of an Arcade Edition of Street Fighter V, Amazon has officially published a listing for that same edition of the game that reveals a few new features.

The biggest of these features is the long-awaited addition of an arcade mode to the game. Many fans wondered why this franchise stpale wasn’t included in the base edtion of the game, and it seems that Capcom has finally gotten around to implementing it.

Not much is known regarding the details of this mode, but according to the Amazon listing, it will allow players to “choose from six different paths themed after classic Street Fighter games.” We can only speculate regarding what that means, but it sounds like you’ll either be choosing from six different plot paths or will be able to take any character of your choosing through six different tournament style story modes.

Alongside the new arcade mode, this new edition of the game adds several special edition nicities (including a gallery of illustrations and slightly improved user interface) as well as some more substantial additions. The addition that will probably have the biggest impact on the game is the reported inclusion of extra character v-triggers. Based on the information in the listing, each character will now have two v-triggers.

There’s also mention of an Extra Battle mode which will allow players to “complete timed challenges to obtain exclusive costumes through 2018.”

If the listing is to be believed, this new edition of the game will be free for all current Street Fighter V players and is expected to release on January 16, 2018. When it does release, it is expected to ship with cross-play support for PS4 and PC players.

This sounds like an improvement over vanilla Street Fighter V, but it remains to be seen whether or not the riled Street Fighter fanbase will welcome this update with open arms given some stiff competition in the fighting genre that is on shelves and in the works.
