The long-mooted X-Men spin-off Gambit, starring Channing Tatum, is set to begin filming in June.

It’s been a very bumpy road to the screen for X-Men spin-off Gambit thus far, a film that’s found itself burning through a few directors with not a frame of footage shot.

Most recently, Gore Verbinski departed the film earlier this year, just as production was set to get going. No new director has thus far been announced, but Fox must be close to identifying someone, as a new filming date has come to light.

It’s being reported that the studio plans to shoot the film starting from June 19th in New Orleans.

Channing Tatum remains attached to play the title role, and the film itself still has a release date in place of June 7th 2019. Thus, a June start this year would still allow it to hit that.

More on the movie as we hear it…
