Sandbox action sequel Just Cause 4 has had its cover blown on Steam – presumably before its formal announcement at E3…

It’s already three years since the last entry, which means that Avalanche Studios is just about ready to unleash Just Cause 4 – another sandbox game full of action, absurdly large explosions and over-the-top stunts.

We know this because Steam, no doubt jumping the gun a bit ahead of E3, has leaked out a promotional image on its software listings. The promo, showing series hero Rico Rordiguez staring at a stormy sky, invites users to “pre-purchase now”, is something we’re assuming Avalanche Studios didn’t want us all to see just yet.

Of course, there’s lots more we don’t know about the game as yet – for example, we’ve no idea which island despot Rodriguez will be taking down this time, or what new mechanics Avalanche will introduce in his new adventure. With E3 just around the corner, though, we’ll probably be getting a trailer or two accompanying its more formal reveal.

We’ll share these with you as we get them.
