Yellow anoraks at the ready! This week, it was announced that hit Welsh thriller Keeping Faith will be returning for a second series, currently in production. The new episodes will air across the UK next year.
An excellent character-based thriller built around a standout performance by Eve Myles (Torchwood, Broadchurch), Keeping Faith started life on BBC One Wales. It first aired as a bilingual drama, available in both English and Welsh-language versions (for which Myles had to learn Welsh). Nobody quite foresaw the huge word-of-mouth response, which made the show a hit for BBC iPlayer, then earned it a repeat airing on BBC One over here.
It’s the story of Faith, a solicitor whose husband goes missing without a trace one morning on his way to work, and Faith’s search for the truth about his sudden disappearance. It was written by Matthew Hall and directed by Pip Broughton. If you’re a crime drama fan who hasn’t yet had the pleasure, do seek it out.
The second run promises “another series full of emotional intrigue for Faith and her family.” More news on that as it arrives.
