Set excitement levels to maximum: The Raid's Iko Uwais will star and do fight choreography for this 10-episode series…

Are you ready for an Iko Uwais TV show? Let us replace any other answer than “oh hell yeah!” with our finger smooshed gently and shushingly upon your lips, as Netflix has ordered a martial arts crime drama TV series starring the Beyond Skyline and The Raid star, called Wu Assassins. According to Deadline, the series has received a 10-episode order from the streaming giant.

Wu Assassins will be written by John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles; Falling Skies) who is also acting as showrunner on the series. The first two episodes will be directed by Steven Fung (!), with Tony Krantz (24) expected to direct another. The Expanse‘s Byron Mann will also star alongside Uwais.

Here’s the synopsis from Deadline:

Set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, [Wu Assassins] is a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements. It stars Uwais as Kai Jin, who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Mann plays Uncle Six.

Guess what show just jumped to the top of our must-watch list in 2019?

In addition to starring in Wu Assassins, Uwais will also serve as producer, lead martial arts and fight choreographer, and stunt coordinator. Production’s expected to kick off on 8th August.

A lot more on this as we get it. A lot more.
