The middle months of 2019 will see two major new kart racing games in an epic race to win our affections: the first of them to arrive is Sega’s Team Sonic Racing on May 21st, with Activision’s Crash Team Racing remake following hot on its heels on June 21st. Since the speedy hedgehog’s racing offering is crossing the release day finish line first, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Sega has shared a fair bit more promotional material than Activision so far.
We’ve already seen an official trailer for Team Sonic Racing (which debuted at E3 last June) and an 11-minute gaming showcase reel (which appeared at Gamescom in August). Also, on top of that, Sega has been showing off the game’s tracks and its music with a series of teasing videos. These clips give you a still-ish image of each track while playing its accompanying audio in the background.
The latest of these promos pertains to the game’s Ocean View stage, and you can watch/listen to it below. Eagle-eared hardcore fans will notice that the song is a remix of Sonic CD‘s You Can Do Anything…
Hyper Potions and Jun Senoue provide the soundtrack for the game, and you can hear more of their work with this video below. This is the game’s Market Street track, which was inspired by the Market Street from Sonic Unleashed…
Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes was also an inspiration for Hyper Potions and Jun Senoue, as you can hear on this Whale Lagoon track…
And in this one, Sand Road, they take inspiration from Sonic Adventure‘s Sand Hill…
We’ll bring you more audiovisual promotional materials as and when Sega share them, as we wait in intrigue for our turn behind the wheel on Team Sonic Racing.
