Niantic has announced a Pokémon Go Limited Research event for next weekend, which will present players with their first chance yet to catch a shiny Feebas. So, if you’re still trying to catch ’em all, you’ll want to load up the app and take part.
Feebas is a Water-type Pokémon that first appeared in Generation III (that’s the Ruby and a Sapphire era, fact fans!). Feebas, along with its Gen 3 cohorts joined Pokémon Go toward the end of last year, but it hasn’t yet been available as a shiny variant. That will all change on Saturday 19th January 2019.
The Limited Research event will last for three hours. It will be active for UK-based and European players between 10am and 1pm GMT on the 19th. For players in the Asia-Pacific region, it’s 12pm to 3pm JST. And in the Americas and Greenland, it’s 11am to 2pm PT or 2pm to 5pm ET.
Within these timeframes, you’ll be able to receive Limited Research tasks by spinning a PokéStop. For every task you complete, the game will reward you with a Feebas encounter. Shiny sightings are always rare, so it stands to reason that you might need to do a few tasks before you spot a shiny one (unless you get lucky first time, of course).
If you can’t wait that long for some new Pokémon Go action, there is also a special Community Day event going on this weekend: Totodile will be the focus of an event that kicks off on Saturday 12th January at 10am GMT. That one last for three hours, as well, and it gives you an easier-than-usual chance to catch a Totodile.
We’ll keep you updated with Pokémon Go news as it happens.
