There seems to be mixed emotions about the new Spider-Man movie. Fans of the original movies are complaining about a total recast and re-starting the story line. What most of these fans (of the movies, not the readers of the comics) fail to realize is that there a more than one Spidey story line. The new movie is following The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Other titles include The Astonishing Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man and The Ultimate Spider-Man. Each comic follows another story-line. Recently MARVEL killed off Peter Parker and have introduced Miles Morales as his replacement.
So what is The Amazing Spider-Man storyline?
It’s the character’s flagship series and the original one created by by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Steve Ditko. Most of the major characters and villains of the Spider-Man saga have been introduced here, and it is where key events occur.
Now with that said the latest movie is starting off right from the beginning and portrays Parker as his super powers are evolving in high school.

I’m all for this movie. Screw the originals, I’m a fan of the comic book, and only Spider-Man 2 came close to a good adaptation of the comic. This time it looks like they focussed more on Peter’s character, and that’s what I’ve been wanting from Spider-Man movies.
