A 25th anniversary special of The Fast Show could be on the way very soon. The cast are planning to get together to record some new sketches to celebrate the comedy series’ silver jubilee in 2019.
Fast Show star John Thomson stopped by BBC Radio Manchester (via British Comedy Guide) this week to confirm that the new special may be afoot, if things go to plan.
“We’re hoping to do a special, which is very exciting,” he told Mike Sweeney. “You heard it first here. We’re in talks, as they say.”
Thomson was among the show’s original stars when it began in 1994, along with Paul Whitehouse, Simon Day, Mark Williams, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir and the late, great Caroline Aherne. The last we saw of the cast together was in some new material for the online channel ‘Foster’s Funny’ in 2011, which BBC Two later clawed together for a 20th anniversary special in 2014.
The Fast Show gave birth to plenty of catchphrases that could be heard just about everywhere during the 90s, and it famously became one of Johnny Depp’s favourite things to watch on an evening; so much so, that he ended up joining in the fun and put in an appearance on the show during its later years.
Do you still find yourself using the odd Fast Show line? If so, which one?
