Uhtred, son of Uhtred returns! The Last Kingdom will be back for a third series, exclusive to Netflix, it's been confirmed…

Bless the gods, old and new – after nothing but rumours about a potential renewal since series two concluded in May 2017, The Last Kingdom is officially confirmed as returning.

Here’s Uhtred himself, Alexander Dreymon making the official announcement that season three is currently filming and “well underway”.

The third series will have ten episodes, two more than usual, adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s The Last Kingdom saga by lead writer Stephen Butchard and co. The series is due to debut later this year exclusively on Netflix, rather than its previous home on BBC Two.

Confirmed to be returning alongside Dreymon are David Dawson as King Alfred, Ian Hart as Father Beocca, Emily Cox as Brida and Tobias Santelmann as Ragnar.

Expect plenty of new recruits to be announced in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more. For Bebbanburg!
