Den Of Geek

Please will you buy our book? We love you.

You are the best readers in the world and we love you. Shall we start with that?

Anyway.

Chums, we always try and be nice to you as you, er, know. We don’t just start to be nice when we want something. But in this instance, it’d probably best to be up front and say that we want something.

Because for the first time ever, we’re putting something on sale, and we hope that you buy it. It’s a book, y’see. And it goes on sale on Thursday October 5th. It’s up for pre-order now, too. It seems long past time that we properly tell you about it.

Movie Geek – penned by Simon Brew, Ryan Lambie and Louisa Mellor, with a dab of Andrew Blair and Mike Cecchini – is being published by Octopus, and is available in print and on Kindle. Our original plan was to pick some highlights from the site and pop them in there. Instead, we basically rewrote everything and put a load of new stuff in there on top. A job that was supposed to take weeks took months as a result.

What’s in it? Loads and loads of nerdy movie things, very much in the spirit of the site you read now. Here’s some official blurb…

Movie Geek is a nerdy dive into popular movies, brought to you by the award-losing Den Of Geek website, with a foreword by the UK’s foremost film critic, Mark Kermode. Discover hidden stories behind movies you love (and, er, don’t love so much), and find out just why the most dangerous place to be is in a Tom Hanks film.

The book will be available from all good bookshops next week.

You can preorder it at Amazon here.

Or at Hive (supporting independent bookshops) here.

We’ll have details of a very special launch event, for which you can buy tickets, shortly. Thank you for any support you can give us. We’ve never done a book before, and we’re thus petrified.
