Comfortably one of the best films of the year is Kathryn Bigelow’s new movie, Detroit. It stars John Boyega, Anthony Mackie and Algee Smith, and tells the story of the civil unrest in the city of Detroit back in the summer of 1967.
We don’t crack out five stars too often, but Detroit is an astonishing piece of work. And it’s come to our attention that – ahead of its release on August 25th – there are paid preview screenings around the UK tonight. From what we can make out, Odeon are doing preview screenings around the country, that you don’t need a membership card to book tickets for. Cineworld, meanwhile, has arranged screenings for its Unlimited card holders that are also on tonight.
Folks: this one’s special, and is just the kind of film that needs and deserves support. We’d strongly recommend seeking out a screening.
