The 1973 movie Papillon is a highly regarded war movie, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman in the lead role. There’s been talk of a new take on the material for a while now, and in fact, a bunch of people have gone ahead and done one.
Thus, heading into US cinemas later this summer – with no UK release date yet earmarked – is another Papillon, this time starring Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek.
Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) has penned the script for this one, that’s been directed by Michael Noer. And the first trailer for the film looks like this…
It’s not a straight remake, taking the source true story for its inspiration. But it’ll still be a prison escape movie you’re getting for your money.
