Robbie Amell, best known in geek circles for his role as Ronnie Raymond on The Flash, his starring turn on The Tomorrow People, or perhaps as Stephen Amell’s cousin, has been cast in a new Amazon pilot called Upload.
Upload will give Amell a chance to stretch his comedy chops, something we’ve seen from him before in movies like The Duff, as it hails from The Office creator Greg Daniels. He has been cast as the male lead in the show.
According to Tracking Board, Upload is the story of a future where humans can upload themselves into the afterlife of their choice. Amell plays Nathan, a man who must work to create an afterlife in the heaven he has chosen alongside a woman named Nora.
It’s an intriguing concept and one that could have something in common with The Good Place, NBC’s own afterlife comedy that has been met with both critical and fan success. It’s unclear, at this point, what the comedic twist on Upload might be, but with the charismatic Robbie Amell in the lead and Daniels as the brain behind the operation, this is definitely an upcoming pilot worth keeping an eye on.
More as we have it.
