The chances of Indiana Jones 5 hitting that summer 2020 release date? Slim…

Already, the planned Indiana Jones 5 has moved from a summer 2019 release date to July 10th 2020. But it now looks almost certain that it’s going to miss that as well.

The new movie was supposed to start shooting next April, with Steven Spielberg directing and Harrison Ford of course. However, Variety reports that crew members have been told that things are being delayed, and in turn, that means a new release date is likely to follow.

One of the delays is down to the fact that the script hasn’t yet been given the greenlight. A new writer has been hired, with Jonathan Kasdan set to take a pass at the screenplay. Kasdan previously penned Solo: A Star Wars Story. David Koepp did an earlier draft of the Indiana Jones script.

The film is still very much an active project, but few would bet against the ever-busy Steven Spielberg taking advantage of the delay and slotting another project in beforehand.

That 2020 release date hasn’t yet been moved by Disney for Indiana Jones 5, but it looks like it’s just a matter of time. More as we hear it.
